The Socially
Conscious
Designer

A toolkit for the socially conscious designer is a short editorial piece created to shed light on some of the thought-provoking questions designers face daily. Each spread is prompted by a question and corresponding personal answer informed by extensive research. Inspired by traditional Swiss design, full-bleed, black and white spreads are present throughout the book, which uses Helvetica as the primary typeface. These components were chosen to produce clean compositions using the basic principles of design, mirroring the importance of the content, equally fundamental to the design process. The rather conventional spreads are contrasted with colourful, digital illustrations and a playful type treatment.
